norwegian wood - the new timber city
introduction | project data | images

By implementing principles from the see house row, "Siriskjær" and "Promenaden" are tied together, and made recognizable in relation to the characteristic volume and space situations in the city centre.
The area gives the city recreational spaces at the water front, but also hiding places when necessary. The new buildings works as an enclosure of the outside areas, creates variation and merges the different movements. Hereby "Promenaden" becomes more than a thoroughfare, but a walk through with variating experiences and qualities - through the private or exposed spheres. The building block is positioned on the area to create recreational spaces which adapts to changing situations of weather, sun, view and line of sight.
