The design manual is holistic and elaborated as a description providing a set of guidelines across a number of local development plans. It is intended as a reference work to be regarded as directional and as a source of inspiration in connection with the preparation of new projects in the area.
The design manual is a substantiating supplement to existing local development plans and therefore serves as a link between the overall intentions – the local development plans – and the individual projects to be carried out in the area.
The emphasis is on the arrangement of the outdoor areas as regards surfaces, plants, lighting and town space furnishings. The form and expression of the buildings are not discussed in the manual, as they have already been treated in the existing local development plans.
