hospice djursland
introduction | project data | images

The ambition to create ‘the good hospice’ is fulfilled. Homeliness, nearness and security fuse with optimum logistics and functionality in a holistic solution, where nature and the view over Følle Vig constitute the framework.
The simple layout of the buildings offers residents and staff ample opportunities for social relations as well as for optimizing the inter-disciplinary aspects of the palliative effort. The proximity of beach and forest is in itself a positive, alleviating factor, and much emphasis has therefore been placed upon permitting all residents the pleasure of the view.
At the same time, a sense of home has been created. The building is scaled down by dividing it into several entities, and the almost archetypal building section appeals to people’s inherent perception of home. The division helps de-institutionalize the hospice and makes it possible to approach the construction by degrees and slowly let it take root and grow in one’s consciousness.
